Introducing: the Café and the Writing Intensive
two spaces that I'm very excited about—just for you and me
I knew that once I joined Substack, I’d want to create something that felt really good. A place with good vibes, biscuits with clotted cream, and hot tea and coffee for those of us who live with limitations and pursue a life of writing.
That’s why I’ve created two homes for us to enjoy: The Unexpected Shape Writing Café and The Unexpected Shape Writing Intensive (COMING NEXT MONTH).
What’s the difference?
The Café is a free and gentle space for us to talk about anything from what we’re reading to struggles that we’re encountering in our daily writing lives. Right now, we have almost 160 members within it, and I expect that it will continue to grow as word spreads.

So what’s the Writing Intensive?
The Writing Intensive is also a community but has the added value of all the recorded modules, from Pre-Writing to Writing to Publication, that I’ve created over the years. The Writing Intensive is also where we plan live events such as co-writing and guest lecturers who pop in and share their stories. It’s a good time. This will not be making its debut until November, but I wanted to let you know about it now so that you can hopeful
ly get excited about it!
All of this is an experiment, of course. I don’t know how this will go; I don’t know if anyone will be interested. But I’m wildly thrilled to have built something new that I hope iterates on what I’ve built before, and I’m always listening to see what I can provide for you that will be of the most value.
